Company Description:
It started with Martha Stewart and strawberry pots. After watching an episode of Martha Stewart Living, a ten year old Emma dreamed of making the strawberry pots they used in the episode. Literally. She started having dreams about being the artist behind those pots (dream Emma definitely wasn’t making them right, but its the thought that counts). That was the end of it, or rather the beginning. Our mom, Wendy, took on the daunting task of finding a studio willing to take on a ten year old. After more than enough rejections, she found Circle Pottery. For Christmas that year, little Emma got her first pottery class and the pottery wheel she still throws on today. During the Circle Pottery days, both of our parents shuttled Emma an hour down the mountain. They showed their continued support through countless miles, pounds of clay, and hours waiting in the car for class to finish.Thrown Studio is a family run pottery studio. Emma has spent the last 23 years honing her skills. We make functional, traditional pottery that is intended to live a life- eat off it, put it in the dishwasher or even in the microwave. Pottery is our family's joy and our business. Thrown Studio, is how we are able to share that joy with the community.
